Who does WVCA serve?
We pride ourselves on being inclusive – as we serve children from birth to age 6 with a variety of developmental conditions, as well as typically developing children. Types of diagnoses and conditions served at WVCA: autism spectrum disorders, down syndrome, premature birth, sensory integration disorders, multiple sclerosis, developmental delays, gross motor delay, speech/language delays, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, seizure disorder, stroke, spina bifida and more.
What programs does WVCA offer?
Our largest program is our Together We Grow Preschool, licensed by the PA Department of Education State Board of Private Academic Schools, Department of Human Services and is a Keystone STAR 4 Center. Through this program, WVCA also offers physical, occupational and speech therapies to students in need. Another one of our programs is our partnership with PA Early Intervention to offer home-based therapy and education services for children at birth through 3 years of age. In addition, we have a CATCH (Childhood Autism Team Check) Clinic that helps to diagnose Autism and related conditions. WVCA also has the area’s only Pre-Kindergarten multisensory room.
What about the facility?
Wyoming Valley Children’s Association is located at 1133 Wyoming Ave, Forty Fort, PA 18704. Our facility consists of our school building, a handicap accessible playground and an outdoor STEAM learning classroom. WVCA has been at this current location for 10 years – prior to this facility our agency was located at the Kirby Health Center in Wilkes-Barre for 80+ years. While our school is in Forty Fort, we serve children from all over Luzerne County, as well as surrounding counties. WVCA’s school year starts the week before Labor Day and ends in early June. WVCA also runs a six-week summer program each year.
