WVCA Welcomes Nina Cecelia Zanon as Executive Director.


 

The Wyoming Valley Children’s Association (WVCA) Board of Directors recently announced the selection of Nina Cecelia Zanon as executive director.

“We are thrilled to have a person of such caliber with a real passion for everything she approaches and know that she will be an outstanding executive director and strong advocate for the kids and staff at WVCA”, stated Karen Martin, board president of WVCA.

 

In 2005, Nina received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Media Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. which was followed by a Master’s of Public Administration (M.P.A) from Marywood University in Scranton.

 

“I am absolutely honored to have been chosen as the organization’s new Executive Director. I have been familiar with the work of WVCA through my community involvement and through the United Way, and I have always admired the services provided by the organization as well as the passion and dedication of its staff and Board of Directors. I look forward to joining this incredible team and continuing the work of this extraordinary organization that helps so many children and families in our community!”

 

Zanon has held positions of Counselor/Advocate at Victims Resource Center, Wilkes-Barre; Director of Development and Alumni Affairs at MMI Preparatory School, Freeland; Director of Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Special Events at The Commonwealth Medical College (now Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine), Scranton; and Vice President of Resource Development at The United Way of Wyoming Valley.

 

In addition to her academic achievements, Zanon has been actively involved in the community and currently serves on numerous boards such as Luzerne County SPCA, Luzerne County Community College Advisory Board, and Marley’s Mission. Zanon was recently appointed to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is a past member of the Rotary Club of Freeland as well as an alumnus of Leadership Wilkes-Barre. Zanon was recently profiled in the Times Leader “Top 20 under 40” publication.

 

Nina Cecelia Zanon lives in Drums, PA with her husband Scott M. Zanon and their dog, Bartlebee. They were married on June 10, 2017. Zanon assumed her role at WVCA on March 22nd.
